It is the harvest season of litchi and wampee in Guangdong Province. In order to improve the quality of litchi wampee after harvest and extend the storage time, on May 26, 2023, researcher Lin Lijing, assistant researcher Liu Yijun and research interns Liu Jiameng from the Tropical Crop Production Area Processing Research Office of the Agricultural Products Processing Institute of the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences went to Xintong Town, Gaozhou City to carry out demonstration and promotion of hypobaric and fresh-keeping technology.
Hypobaric preservation technology is a new type of preservation technology formed by Dr. Lin Lijing/Director of the Tropical Crop Production Processing Research Laboratory, in collaboration with relevant equipment enterprises, through multiple scientific experiments, technological innovation, and key component transformation. Compared with traditional cold chain technology, this technology significantly extends the cold storage period of fruits and vegetables, delays the decay rate, and suppresses diseases. Previous experiments have successfully extended the shelf life of tropical fruits and vegetables such as lychee, yellow peel, and pineapple by more than twice. In order to accelerate the industrialization of vacuum preservation technology, Dr. Lin Lijing, in collaboration with the Xindong Town Government, relevant enterprises, and others, has reached a cooperation intention to establish the "Xindong Vacuum Preservation Technology Incubation Center", helping to improve the quality of fruits and vegetables such as Xindong lychee and Huangpi, and opening up the last mile of industrialization.
At present, the vacuum preservation equipment incubated by the vacuum preservation technology has been successfully transported to Xindong Town according to the work schedule. Next, Dr. Lin Lijing will lead a team to install and debug the equipment, conduct storage and preservation experiments on lychee, yellow peel, and other fruits, and carry out technical publicity.
